Tampere Pride 2027 / Tampere Pirkanmaan Pride 2027

Tampere sits between the lakes Näsijärvi and Pyhäjärvi and is Finland's third-largest city by population. Its queer history goes back a long way. The regional Seta association, now called Pirkanmaan SETA – Sinuiksi ry, was founded in the 1970s and describes itself as the oldest rainbow organisation in the country. It has been active for more than fifty years and is the oldest member of the national Seta federation.

Public rainbow events have taken place in Tampere since the late 1980s. They began as Leimautumispäivät, roughly "stamping days", where everyone could pick the rainbow stamp that suited them. In the early 1990s came the Vapautuspäivät, or liberation days. The city's first official Pride festival was held in the mid-2000s under the name Tampere Pride. For part of the 2010s the city had two separate Pride events, one run by a private organiser and Pirkanmaa Pride run by the association. Today the annual Pride week is called Manse Pride, after the city's nickname, and Sinuiksi ry organises it.

Manse Pride takes place in June and lasts a week. Many different groups contribute to the programme, which is meant for all ages and includes talks, theatre, workshops, educational sessions and parties, with a march through the city. During Pride week there is also a special edition of Leimarit, the association's long-running party series.

Outside Pride week, Sinuiksi ry remains the main point of contact for the community. It runs a national helpline on sexual orientation and gender identity, offers anonymous HIV and syphilis testing, and organises peer groups for different age groups as well as an online youth centre. Most activities are in Finnish, though newcomers are welcome to join the groups.

For nightlife, the fixed address is Nightclub Mixei on Itsenäisyydenkatu, the oldest gay nightclub still operating in Finland. It gets especially busy during Pride week.
