Burlington Pride 2027

Burlington sits in Alamance County in the North Carolina Piedmont, between Greensboro to the west and the Durham area to the east. The city does have its own Pride. Alamance Pride is a nonprofit based in Burlington that describes itself as the leading voice for LGBTQ+ visibility in the county, which also takes in Elon, Graham, Mebane, Gibsonville and Haw River.

The group's main event is the annual Pride festival in downtown Burlington. It takes place in the fall, usually early in October, around the historic railroad station known as the Historic Depot. Rather than a big parade, it is a street festival with live music, booths from local groups and small businesses, and food trucks. Vendors can register for a booth, and volunteers help set up and clean up.

Alamance Pride stays busy outside festival season too. Once a month it hosts a social gathering called See and Be Seen. Its calendar, The Gay Agenda, lists events put on by small businesses around the county, and the group also awards a scholarship. Elon University is the festival's largest sponsor and runs a booth there, staffed by students, faculty, staff and alumni.

Anyone visiting the area in late summer can also head to Greensboro Pride. It is held in September in downtown Greensboro, with a festival and a parade, and is organized by the nonprofit IMPAQT GSO. Elon's LGBTQIA center also points students toward the Pride events in Durham, Winston-Salem and Charlotte, which are all within reach for a day.
