About Montreal Pride
Fierté Montréal is one of the largest Pride celebrations in North America, running over several days in late summer. The festival centres on the Village, the city's long-established queer neighbourhood east of downtown, where stages, bars and street parties spread across several blocks.
The highlight is the parade along Boulevard René-Lévesque. Covering roughly 1.9 kilometres, the route symbolically runs from the city's former queer district in the west to today's Village in the east, finishing near the junction with Rue Atataken.
Getting to the parade is easiest via the metro stations Lucien-L'Allier and Bonaventure on the orange line, or Guy-Concordia, Peel, McGill and Place-des-Arts on the green line. For the Village itself, Berri-UQAM, Beaudry or Papineau — all on the green line — are the closest stops.
The festival is run by the non-profit organisation Fierté Montréal. Beyond the parade, the programme includes comedy nights, drag shows and multi-day community gatherings right in the Village, where local and touring drag artists and comedians share the stage.
Montréal has long ranked among Canada's most queer-friendly cities, and despite the commercial pressures reshaping many downtown neighbourhoods, the Village remains a place where queer life stays visible and unremarkable in the best sense.
