Potsdam Pride 2027

Potsdam has held its Christopher Street Day for more than three decades. Unlike the many German Pride events that fall in high summer, Potsdam Pride usually takes place in May, close to the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Interphobia and Transphobia. At its heart is a demonstration through the city centre calling for equal rights for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, inter and queer people. The organisers also push for discrimination-free spaces and reliable support for those who need it.

The city administration takes part openly. In the week of the march, the rainbow flag goes up in front of the town hall, and the city's equality officer is involved in the programme. The day after the demonstration there is usually a Queens Day to close the weekend. In recent years the Potsdam march has also taken a clear stand against the far right and joined forces with other civic alliances.

A second regular date is the Bike Pride, run by the local association Regenbogen Potsdam. Instead of walking, participants ride through the city together for an afternoon. The same group hosts a get-together every two months and smaller events such as film nights.

If you are looking for community or advice outside Pride weekend, there are two established addresses. Katte e.V. runs a counselling centre on Jägerallee covering HIV, coming out, migration and social issues, and works with the city on projects such as a dedicated queer budget within the participatory city budget. The state association AndersARTiG runs the Regenbogenkombinat on Dortustraße, a meeting space with groups, readings, film screenings and counselling. Potsdam's queer scene is small and largely built around these associations. Many locals go to Berlin for nightlife, but in May the focus is on their own city.
