About Lund Pride
LundaPride is the Pride organisation of Lund, the university town in southern Sweden. It grew out of an earlier group known as "Stolt i Lund" ("Proud in Lund").
Besides the main parade through the city centre, LundaPride also organises its own, smaller marches in the surrounding villages of Veberöd, Dalby and Södra Sandby. The idea behind it: Pride is not just a city-centre event – it happens in the villages around Lund too, wherever queer people live.
Around the Lund parade itself runs a multi-day festival programme with talks, seminars, film screenings and a rainbow church service in Lund Cathedral. The main parade traditionally starts and ends at Lundagård, the old park next to the university, and Stadsparken, where it turns into a stage programme. In recent years several thousand people have joined the march, and the day usually winds down with an afterparty at the Mejeriet music venue.
As a university town of roughly 100,000 residents, Lund has a comparatively young, international population, and Lund University itself regularly invites its staff to join the parade. That shapes the character of the event: more academic and political than commercial, with a clear focus on visibility that reaches well beyond the city centre and out into the surrounding villages.
