Sundsvall Pride 2027

Sundsvall sits on the coast of the Gulf of Bothnia and is the largest town in the Swedish county of Västernorrland. It has had its own Pride for almost twenty years. Sundsvall Pride takes place every early summer, usually at the end of June or the beginning of July, and runs for about a week. During that week the town centre becomes a meeting point for queer people from Sundsvall itself and from the sparsely populated region around it.

The event is organised by RFSL Västernorrland, the regional branch of the Swedish federation for the rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer and intersex people. The national federation was founded in the middle of the twentieth century. The Sundsvall branch runs a meeting space on Köpmangatan in the town centre, and much of the Pride week is coordinated from there.

The main event is the parade. Ahead of it, the organisers publish a starting order so that clubs, parties and groups know where they walk. The programme also includes performances by artists, talks and other activities.

A wide group of partners supports the week, including the Municipality of Sundsvall, the Church of Sweden, several political parties and local businesses.

Anyone planning a visit should check the dates on the Sundsvall Pride website, because the exact week changes from year to year. Outside Pride week, the RFSL Västernorrland premises are the main point of contact for queer people in town. The branch offers a café and meeting place, counselling, HIV and STI testing, and activities for young people and newcomers.
