About Eastleigh Pride

Eastleigh Pride is a family-friendly celebration in Hampshire, England, run by the not-for-profit Eastleigh Pride CIC. The organisation started with a single community member setting it up and still runs on volunteer effort, without any fixed public funding behind it.

The day opens with a Pride March through town, with people gathering at Leigh Road Recreation Ground before setting off through the streets. The march loops back to the same ground, where the celebration turns into a big, free festival open to everyone. Entry costs nothing, and the whole programme is built with families and people of all ages in mind.

On site, live music alternates with food and drink stalls and a small funfair's worth of rides. A dedicated kids' zone means the youngest visitors get a programme built specifically for them rather than an afterthought.

Eastleigh itself is a mid-sized town between Southampton and Winchester, shaped by rail and industry rather than by any large queer scene of its own. That is exactly the point of the event: Pride as a statement in a place where queer life often stays quiet. The march itself is framed explicitly as an ongoing protest for fair treatment of queer people, even as the festival around it leans firmly into celebration and community.

Visitors to Eastleigh Pride get less of a big-stage spectacle and more of a grounded, volunteer-run neighbourhood party, with a clear political core and plenty of room for families.

About Eastleigh

Eastleigh, a vibrant town in England, hosts Pride events that celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community and promote acceptance. Eastleigh Pride organizes inclusive gatherings featuring a march through key streets like Market Street, followed by a full day of family-friendly fun at Leigh Road Recreation Ground. Highlights include live music from local performers, food stalls, bars, fairground rides, and interactive zones with police and fire vehicles for kids.

The local LGBTQ+ history in Eastleigh reflects resilience and community spirit. It stems from individuals who, after facing homophobia, rallied to create awareness and challenge discrimination. The Pride logo features the Spitfire, an iconic aircraft manufactured in Eastleigh during wartime, symbolizing the defense of liberal values against intolerance. These events address broader issues, fostering conversations on trans rights and equality.

For English-speaking visitors, Eastleigh Pride offers an authentic slice of British queer culture. Unlike larger urban festivals, it emphasizes grassroots involvement and local talent, making it accessible and welcoming. Attendees enjoy a mix of celebration and activism, with opportunities to connect with residents and allies. The march serves as a powerful reminder that Pride is both party and protest, demanding fair treatment across the community.

Eastleigh Pride transforms the town into a hub of pride and visibility. Whether joining the parade, exploring stalls from local vendors like Superior Scents or Victim Care Hub, or simply soaking in the atmosphere, participants leave inspired. The organization invites everyone to get involved, building a lasting legacy of inclusion and support for LGBTQIA+ people in Eastleigh.
