About Bayreuth Pride
Bayreuth's Pride march winds through the old town before a large rally with a stage programme takes over the Ehrenhof. Start and finish are the same spot: from the Ehrenhof, the route runs via Sternplatz past the town hall, through Münzgasse and Richard-Wagner-Straße, loops around the Hofgarten via Cosima-Wagner- and Jean-Paul-Straße, continues along Balthasar-Neumann-Straße, Friedrichstraße, Sophienstraße and Maximilianstraße, and returns to the starting point.
The event is organised by Queer Bayreuth e.V., which describes itself as a networking and contact point for queer people in the city. A multi-day lead-up precedes the march itself: workshops, readings, film screenings and sports activities fill the so-called Pride Weeks. On the day itself, proceedings open with an ecumenical service before the march sets off in the afternoon. The rally that follows at the Ehrenhof brings together political speeches, music, drag performances and information stalls run by associations and counselling services.
