About Herzogenaurach Pride

In Herzogenaurach, the local group Pride Herzo e.V. organises a Pride event that combines a demonstration with a street festival. It runs under the motto "Nie wieder still" (Never silent again) and stands for diversity, visibility, equal rights and social participation.

At the centre is a demonstration through the town, joined by private citizens as well as clubs, schools, religious communities, political parties and companies that support a respectful, discrimination-free community. Afterwards, a street festival opens with information stalls, meeting spaces and a cultural programme, before the day ends with an afterparty at the local youth centre, Jugendhaus Rabatz. Setup and the demonstration take up the afternoon, while the street festival runs on into the evening.

Pride Herzo describes its own event as deliberately small-town and welcoming. The character is shaped by the region, families and friends and supporters are explicitly invited, and the atmosphere is meant to feel approachable whether or not visitors have been to a Pride event before.

Anyone who wants to help with an information stall or their own activity can register with the association in advance. The event is run entirely by volunteers from Pride Herzo e.V., who are always looking for more supporters, speakers and stallholders to grow the programme further. For a small town in Middle Franconia, it is a visible sign of an open community.

About Herzogenaurach

Herzogenaurach, a picturesque town in Franconia, Germany, has emerged as a welcoming spot for the LGBTQ+ community, with Pride events becoming a vibrant part of local culture. These gatherings celebrate diversity, equality, and acceptance, drawing locals and visitors to colorful parades and programs that highlight queer voices and stories.

The roots of the local LGBTQ+ scene trace back to grassroots efforts inspired by global milestones like the Stonewall uprising. In Herzogenaurach, the community has grown from informal meetups to public demonstrations, fostering a supportive network through counseling, social groups, and awareness campaigns. German Pride stands out for its blend of festivity and activism, advocating for rights such as marriage equality and anti-discrimination laws, while emphasizing personal stories and political change.

Central to events is the town square, where speeches, live music, and performances create an inclusive atmosphere. Families and allies join in, making it a family-friendly affair that bridges generations. Proximity to Nuremberg's longstanding Pride parade adds excitement, offering larger-scale inspiration while Herzogenaurach maintains its intimate, community-driven vibe. Local initiatives engage schools, businesses, and clubs to promote tolerance and education.

Workshops, film screenings, and parties keep the momentum going year-round, empowering youth to embrace their identities. Herzogenaurach's Pride movement embodies resilience and joy, turning a small town into a beacon of openness in Germany's heartland. Visitors find a place where queer culture thrives amid historic charm, proving that pride knows no size limits.
