About Kaiserslautern Pride

Kaiserslautern only recently got its own Pride day, organized by a local initiative. A four-person core team brings together people from the local queer community, civil society, and supporters from the city and surrounding area, growing the event a little more each year.

The march starts at Schillerplatz, loops through downtown, and returns to the same square, where a colorful stage program follows. Under the motto "Lautre is louder than hate: bold, loud, self-determined," the event takes a clear stand against hostility toward queer people and for the right to self-determination.

The fact that a Pride event happens in a city like Kaiserslautern at all is not something to take for granted. Ahead of the event, organizers carried out security checks, a sign of how seriously the city and the organizing team take the issue and how much they care about a safe setting for everyone attending.

The young initiative runs on volunteers who organize through Instagram and email, deliberately building on a broad base across the city and the surrounding region rather than relying on a single larger institution. Anyone who wants to get involved can reach the initiative through its contact channels.
