Korbach Pride 2027

Pride Korbach is the annual pride event of the small Hessian town of Korbach, the district seat of Waldeck-Frankenberg. Unlike the large, commercially sponsored pride parades in Germany's bigger cities, Pride Korbach is a grassroots, politically driven event, organized primarily by local political groups — Die Linke Waldeck-Frankenberg and SPDqueer Hessen-Nord — together with other partners from the district's civil society. It grew out of a first edition, when queer residents and allies in this rural corner of northern Hesse marched together for the first time to demand visibility, tolerance and equal rights.

For its third edition, taking place from 10:00 to 16:00, participants meet at Korbach's main railway station (Hauptbahnhof). From there, the march makes its way through town to the Stadtpark, the city park, which becomes the day's central gathering point. Rather than a large-scale parade with elaborate floats, Pride Korbach keeps things simple and community-focused: information booths run by local groups, speeches from organizers and supporters, and an afternoon of music and celebration in the park round out the programme.

Pride Korbach matters precisely because of its scale. In a rural district where LGBTQIA+ people can otherwise feel isolated, a public, peaceful demonstration in the middle of town sends an unmistakable signal that queer people exist here too, and that discrimination has no place in Waldeck-Frankenberg. The event has been supported over the years by youth wings of several political parties and by regional programmes for democracy and tolerance, reflecting a broad alliance across the local political spectrum.
