Pforzheim Pride 2027

Pforzheim has its own Pride, known locally as Christopher Street Day. It is organised by Spotlight Pforzheim e.V., the city's specialist centre for sexual health and self-determination, which grew out of the former local AIDS service organisation. Pride takes place on a Saturday in June. It starts with a demonstration that lines up on the Marktplatz and moves through the city centre, then continues on the Marktplatz with a stage programme, DJs, drag performers and stalls run by groups and initiatives. An afterparty follows in the evening.

The organisers want Pride to remain a political demonstration rather than an advertising platform. The event is non-commercial and largely run by volunteers. Groups and stalls register in advance through a form on the association's website. When far-right groups announced a counter-protest, the organisers kept to their plans and called on people to take part.

In the days before Pride there is a Pride Week with talks, theatre and evening events, put together with municipal institutions and cultural venues. Queer events are otherwise rare in Pforzheim, so this week is the main date in the local calendar.

Two larger Pride events take place nearby. Pride in Karlsruhe is organised by a local volunteer association and is held on the first weekend of June, with a demonstration and an all-day family festival around the Marktplatz and Schlossplatz. Karlsruhe saw its first demonstrations back in the eighties. In Stuttgart, an association runs Stuttgart PRIDE, which includes several weeks of cultural events, a large demonstration and the Hocketse street festival at the end of July.
